Francisco Doula Services was founded in 2007. Our goal is to provide
our clients with the support and knowledge that will help each mother
feel mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually empowered during
her childbirth. We also try to provide expecting parents with all
of the information they need to help them plan their own positive
birth experience. We hope to continue to help women and their families
throughout the Bay Area have more rewarding, relaxed, beautiful and
magical birth experiences.
The word, 'Doula,' is Greek for "woman caregiver." Doula
has come to mean the woman who assumes the traditional role of assisting
other women during labor. In addition to helping mothers through childbirth,
doulas can be an important resource for partners and family members,
and help the people closest to the mother learn how they can support
her. Doulas are not meant to replace the partner, but rather to enhance
their experience as well.
